Description

Two Little Fishies Little ReBorn® Calcium Reactor Media – 44 lb (20 kg) Bulk Box

High-Purity, Fine-to-Medium Aragonite Media for Primary Reactors, Secondary Chambers & Heavy-Demand Reefs

Product Overview

Maintain rock-solid alkalinity, calcium, and essential trace elements with Two Little Fishies Little ReBorn®. Composed of fossilized coral skeletons sustainably harvested from pristine sites in the Western Pacific, Little ReBorn® delivers the exact chemical profile required by stony corals (SPS/LPS), clams, and coralline algae.

While standard ReBorn® features large, coarse coral rubble,Little ReBorn® offers a smaller grain size. This provides significantly greater reactive surface area per unit volume—allowing carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) to dissolve the media faster and at slightly milder pH levels.

Packaged in a cost-effective 44 lb (20 kg) bulk master carton, this size is ideal for high-consumption reef aquariums, multi-tank systems, aquaculture facilities, and hobbyists who run dual-chamber calcium reactors.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Natural Coral Skeleton Composition: Replaces calcium, carbonate alkalinity, strontium, and vital trace minerals in the exact biological ratios corals consume to build their aragonite skeletons.

  • Optimized Grain Size: The smaller pebble size creates higher contact surface area compared to coarse rubble, enhancing $CO_2$ dissolution efficiency and allowing high alkalinity output even in compact reaction chambers.

  • Ideal for Secondary Effluent Chambers: Perfectly sized to serve in secondary (post-reactor) degassing chambers, neutralizing residual dissolved $CO_2$ and stabilizing effluent pH before it returns to your sump.

  • Ultra-Low Impurities: High-purity natural aragonite with negligible phosphate and silicate levels helps prevent nuisance algae blooms and diatom outbreaks.

  • Uniform, Mush-Resistant Dissolution: Engineered to dissolve cleanly and uniformly without turning into thick sludge or restricting reactor flow.

  • Pre-Rinsed: Thoroughly washed in pure RO water prior to packaging for minimal dust and clean initial setup.

Product Specifications

Specification Detail

Total Weight 44 lbs (20 kg)
Packaging Heavy-duty corrugated box with sealed liner
Origin Sustainably harvested, Western Pacific Ocean
Target Application Calcium reactors (primary and secondary effluent chambers)

Ideal Applications

  • Primary Calcium Reactors: Recommended for reactor bodies engineered for small-to-medium media or systems demanding high dissolved mineral output.

  • Secondary / Effluent Scrubbing Chambers: The increased surface area makes Little ReBorn® an exceptional media for second chambers designed to raise effluent pH and trap residual $CO_2$.

  • Blended Reactor Media: Mix with Two Little Fishies ReMag® (natural magnesium media) or standard coarse ReBorn® to balance media bed porosity, optimize interstitial water flow, and supply magnesium alongside calcium and carbonates.

Directions for Use

  1. Inspection & Prep: Little ReBorn® is pre-rinsed in RO water prior to packing. While generally ready to add out of the box, a light rinse with RO/DI water in a mesh strainer or bucket may be performed to eliminate any minor dust created during transit.

  2. Reactor Loading: Fill your calcium reactor chamber according to the manufacturer’s instructions.Do not overpack past the maximum fill line to avoid impeding water flow.

  3. CO2 Tuning: Adjust your $CO_2$ bubble rate and effluent drip rate. Because Little ReBorn® offers higher reactive surface area, it dissolves readily—start at an internal reactor pH around 6.6 – 6.8 and adjust based on your tank's daily alkalinity consumption.

  4. Maintenance: Top off the media bed periodically as it dissolves over time to maintain steady water circulation and contact volume.
