Description
Kelly Green Psammocora from ORA is an intense green branching coral from the Psammocora genus. These corals are sometimes referred to as sandpaper corals because of the fine grainy appearance they have when their polyps are not extended. When its polyps are fully extended Kelly Green Psammocora has a rich velvety look. This is one of the brightest green SPS corals out there, it really grabs your attention when passing by a tank.
It has a rather unique growth form among SPS corals. It heavily encrusts the surface it is growing on before it begins to form thick irregular branches spread across its surface. It grows well in a wide variety of lighting condtions but it will look the best when viewed under lights heavy on the blue spectrum. Moderate to strong flow is suggested to keep detritus from accumulating on its irregular surface.
We got this coral 8 to 10 years ago from one of our first employees, Kelly Hunter. Kelly tells us that this coral was imported from Palau in 1994.
