A faster flow is used in the upper section for quick mechanical and chemical filtration, while a slower flow in the lower section promotes the optimal development of anaerobic bacteria—vital for superior biological breakdown of pollutants.

Multi-Stage Filtration (5 High-Performance Media Included)

Every Bioflow filter comes fully equipped with a complete set of media to establish your multi-stage filtration system:

• BioPad (Filter Wool): Acts as a crucial Mechanical Pre-Filter, catching coarse dirt particles and debris to prevent clogging of deeper media. (Replace weekly)
• BioCarb (Carbon Sponge): Provides Chemical Filtration, absorbing odors, turbidity, toxic compounds, and dissolved organic impurities for polished, crystal-clear water. (Replace monthly)
• Nitrax (Nitrate Remover Sponge): A Biological/Chemical Filter containing specialist micro-organisms that break down poisonous metabolites (Ammonium/Nitrite) and reduce the growth of algae by anaerobically breaking down Nitrates. (Replace every 8 weeks)
• Coarse Filter Sponge: Serves as the first stage of Biological Filtration, providing a large surface area for beneficial aerobic bacteria to colonize and initiate clarification.
